Nick Hector
Biography
Nick Hector CCE BFE ACE is a filmmaker and an associate professor in cinema arts at the University of Windsor. He has edited or produced more than 150 documentary films and programs across North & Central America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Nick began his career in television journalism and soon specialized in long-form documentary, particularly cinéma-vérité.

Some of his best-known work stems from his long creative relationship with legendary Canadian filmmakers Allan King, Matt Gallagher, Yvan Patry, and Sturla Gunnarsson. Nick's work has been screened at most major international festivals and includes two films on Criterion, three Top Ten Canadian films, five films at MoMA, 11 at TIFF, and 15 at HotDocs. Nick has been nominated for 36 national film awards and is the winner of thirteen; including Canadian Screen, HotDocs, Directors Guild of Canada, Canadian Cinema Editors, and Gemini Awards. His creative works have won 48 national and international awards.
